Toner transfere method

Either because of my lack of skill or me normal bad luck, I can't seem to transfere toner to my copperclad board.
Am I doing something wrong.
Are there any alternatives.
I've tried with a HP Deskjet 720C and a HP Officejet 5610 to no effect the toner just will not transfere.
Any suggestion fellas?

Not sure if those are laser printers or not, but it has to be laser. I have also heard that magazine paper without to much ink on it works good if your printer will accept that kind of paper.

Time to drag out old Laserjet 6P much thanks.

I found this to be the most detailed site about DIY PCB creation. Includes specific reference to a specific Staples photo paper that's proven to work well. I followed it, including the DIY etchant, and have good results.

does anyone have any experience using the staples copy center for board prints? they use xerox glossy photo paper...i tried kinkos and their ink just melts into one amalgamess mess (same with OfficeMax); I'm about at my wits end with this dang toner transfer....one more try and then I'm just going to have to wait till i have more cash, and purchase syntex's board. wanted to do it myself but as stated...I'm going nuts.

I did have Staples print some boards using clear transparencies. However, the transparencies buckled under the heat and totally ruined the transfer. One thing you want to check is that the prints come out to the correct scale. They cannot print the raw GIF correctly. You need to provide them with a PDF. The good news is their prints are cheaper than buying a $20 pack of Staples photo paper to do your own prints.

yea, i finally got my scale correct...took me a few minutes using gimp, and the measure tool...turns out that if you scale to 600x600 ppi it comes out right
